In Kuala Lumpur, there is an association for local Chinese whose ancestors came from Gaozhou, Maoming and Xinyi areas in China. This association is Malaysia Kochow Association. While Gaozhou is Mandarin, Kochow is the pronunciation of Kuala Lumpur's local dialect. Kochow and Gaozhou mean the same place.
The building of Malaysia Kochow Association is about 60 years old. However it will soon be demolished and rebuilt as a 6-storeyed building.
